Flooring Options Inspired by Mother Nature
Cork
Another great option for families with allergies is Cork flooring. Because Cork flooring is designed by Mother Nature it is naturally fire resistant, insect resistant and resistant to microbes. It naturally repels dust mites and allergens. Cork is growing in popularity with homeowners and hospitals across America.
If being green is important to you Cork provides a unique look that is an environmentally safe alternate to other flooring products. The bark which becomes the cork flooring is grown in Mediterranean plantations. It is important to note that only the bark is peeled off to be used for cork flooring every decade. The tree itself is never felled!
Cork is available in an ever growing variety of colors and styles. We carry cork from the APC Company as well as from We Cork. Cork is a floating floor, with a click and lock installation system similar to laminate flooring. Cork is a resilient, warm flooring surface that feels great on the feet. It requires little maintenance and is incredibly durable. This is one product we believe you’ll want to see (and feel) for yourself!
While you are in our showroom be sure to browse our newest venue- Cork Purses! Beautiful, unusual and durable, we know you’ll fall in love with these one of a kind purses by We Cork.
Bamboo
Durable, Sustainable, Simple. Bamboo is available from a variety of sources and grades. We are proud to offer Strand Woven Bamboo manufactured by Mohawk. Strand Woven Bamboo is made by combining strips of bamboo and low VOC adhesives and is molded under 2,000 tons of pressure. This process results in a product that is twice as hard as domestic oak. Its durability makes it very family and pet friendly. Bamboo by Mohawk is an LEED Recognized rapidly renewable resource and meets European E-1 standards for low formaldehyde.
When pricing bamboo beware that not all bamboo is created equal. Be sure to find out where the bamboo is from and how it is manufactured. Ask hard questions about the thickness and manufacturing process! Remember a cheap bamboo floor will yield cheap results!
Bamboo is installed using click and lock technology which makes it easy for the do-it-yourselfer to install. As with all our products, we’ll be glad to install it for you.
Bamboo is available in a growing variety of colors and textures, including hand scraped finishes. We encourage you to stop by and browse. You’ve got to see and feel it for yourself.
Cleaning your Bamboo is simple. Wipe wet spills immediately to avoid swelling of the wood. No waxing is necessary as the layers of finish will be enough to protect your floors. Dry mop as needed to keep the floor free of dirt or sand that may scratch the floor. An occasional damp mop may be used when it’s time to deep clean.
Solid Wood and Engineered Wood Flooring
For a traditional, timeless look we offer wood floor products by Mohawk. We’ll be glad to discuss with the the benefits of engineered wood vs. traditional wood.
Many of Mohawk’s engineered hardwoods include reclaimed wood from dismantled buildings. These woods find new life in Mohawk hardwood selections to help assure a more environmentally friendly approach to flooring. Additionally, Mohawk has introduced PureBond®, a unique engineered hardwood manufacturing process that reduces the addition of unnecessary formaldehyde. UniClic® technology features a new glueless installation for ease of fit.
Whether you’re looking for the charm of a standard solid wood or the beauty of reclaimed engineered wood, you’ll find the perfect flooring with Mohawk hardwood. Many new finish techniques available make hardwood more durable than your mother’s hardwood floor of the past. Prefinished hardwood flooring is also easier to clean.
