what will best suit your cooking style and needs. We will briefly give some
pros and cons of various counter top surfaces we have available.
Laminate
We are proud to offer laminates from the Formica and Wilson Art companies.
Laminate is the most basic, least expensive type of counter top material. Laminate is a man made plastic material that is noted for its ease of cleanup and resistance to most stains. However, laminate scratches, nicks and burns. This affordable surface comes in hundreds of colors and patterns. Laminates are available in matte and glossy finishes. The newest look in laminate is the sparkle finish. For a more elegant look, a laminate counter top can be affordably dressed up with a specialty edge in wood or solid surface of your choice. The life expectancy of a laminate counter top is 8-10 years.
Solid Surface (Corian type product)
Our customers can choose a wide range of colors from colors Wilson Art Gibraltar and Formica Solid Surface and Meganite.
Solid surface is a versatile man made mix of polyester and acrylic resins. It comes in a wide range of colors and patterns. It can be formed into nearly seamless lengths with integrated sinks and backsplashes. It can be routed into many elegant edge profiles. Solid surface counter tops are loved for their ease of care. However solid surfaces are porous and may stain. It can scorch and shows scratches. It cannot be used as a cutting surface. Minor scratches can be buffed out, however buffing is costly and dusty. The option of buffing significantly lengthens its life expectancy.
Exotic Wood
For a one of a kind wood countertop, we have available wood countertops from The Craft-Art Company. The Craft-Art Company makes handcrafted wood countertops and cutting boards for your kitchen and home that are functional, pleasing to look at, and durable. Their products are manufactured using exacting standards and the best materials that are available. They are finished with a food safe Tung oil, making it easy to maintain their attractiveness. Butcher Block
Butcher block countertops have long been revered as an excellent cutting surface. They provide a durable working surface for food preparation areas and provide a warm natural look that gets better with age.
Wooden countertops are often used as an accent area in the kitchen such as an island or area next to the stove. Wooden cutting surfaces do not dull knives. If a wooden countertop area is properly oiled, every 6 weeks, it maintains its beauty for years. Oiling helps the wood heal itself as well as makes it more bacteria retardant.
Scientific studies show hard maple to be more sanitary than synthetic surfaces! Wooden surfaces can stain, burn and scar, but a solid wood countertop is a renewable work surface that can look like new with sanding. Butcher block provides a warm natural look that gets better with age.

Engineered Marble
A new kid on the block, Portofino, an engineered marble product is now available from Home & Office Cabinetry. Portofino offers a n affordable alternative to natural stone. It is more consistent in color and stronger than natural marble. The combination of beauty and durability makes Portofino a perfect choice for your project. An undermount sink bowl is used in an engineered marble counter top.
Granite
Granite is a fine-grained natural stone that is found in many beautiful colors and patterns. It is the hardest, most durable stone. Granite is heat and waterproof, it is difficult to stain or scratch. It is easy to care for as well. Under mount sinks are generally used with granite counter tops. Granite is a noisy surface and is tough on breakables! With minimal care granite can last many years.
Quartz
If you like the look of Granite, but don't have time for annual sealing and are worried about etching, quartz may be just the countertop product you are looking for. We offer Quartz countertops by Silestone. This countertop is naturally scratch resistant, as there are only three minerals harder than quartz - topaz, sapphire and topaz. Silestone is a non-porous material and is more highly resistant to stains than granite. Even a red wine or vinegar spill can be wiped with just soap and water! It does not need to be sealed to maintain its luster. Because Silestone is a man-made quartz product it is uniform in color, so you won't need to see your slab before fabrication. Integrated sinks are available; they can also be used with an undermount sink. Be aware that Quartz countertops are noisy and tough on breakables!
